It’s getting uncomfortably hot here already. This got me brainstorming about what we could do to improve the conditions that mother nature provides. One problem is some areas are too hot and others are too cold.
Well, the hot area, cold area problem could be fixed if we could redirect some sunlight from the hot to the cold regions, but what is the best way to accomplish this. Mom occasionally causes a volcano to erupt sending ash into the atmosphere which blocks some sunlight and cools the affected areas. This doesn’t help the cold areas though, is temporary, and also causes respiratory problems from the ash, so not the best solution. I think the solution is space based. A series of mirrors placed in space that redirect maybe 5% of the sunlight that would normally fall on hot areas. NASA is working on solar sails at the moment, I’d suggest when they settle on a material they like, they point some towards the Earth as temperature regulation devices.
Great fantasy, Charles, but remember, all of that would be brought to you by the same people who imported the Cane Toads to help control insects; distributed both R. multiflora and Kudzu for erosion control and wildlife habitat and who wish to spread rose rosette disease to help clean up the multiflora problem THEY created.
The potential for that kind of device to be used as a weapon is severe and you know the perverse nature of people. Think of the results of one, little, “Oops! My bad!” Then, consider the adverse results of changing a climate even a few degrees. Insects, weeds, fungi and bacteria which don’t exist in colder areas move in VERY quickly once habitats change, as well as damaging already stressed plant and animal populations. Consider what has happened to the krill and populations which depend upon such a small part of the equation. Warm a colder area and it results in weather extremes that put everything in jeapordy. The warming of the surface of the Pacific just a few degrees causes El Nino conditions with extreme results world wide, and that’s “Natural”. Any time a government begins believing THEY can do it better than Ma Nature, I’m scared…
I was thinking the same thing; Imagine a human error and a whole area getting fried to a crisp!. Mother nature knows best in the long run in my opinion!!! One of my favorite reads was Louis Bromfields’s Malabar Farm. The writer returned to his childhood home farm which looked like a disaster after it had been “improved” by the latest agriculture trends in the previous decades…using the mold board plow, the Army Corp of Engineers straightening the stream, all of which led to erosion. As he converted to contour plowing , using a blue grass/ clover combination, etc. small streams that had disappeared began to reappear as the water soaked into the land instead of running off. An old book but a pleasant bedtime read.

Imagine what a person bent on power could do with such technology.
Charles,
There already is one of those programs running. The “chem trails” you see (this program has been in effect for awhile-on 9-11 all the chem trails disappeared for several days) almost on a daily basis in parts of the country is just such a thing.http://www.chemtrailcentral.com/ has several explanations of them, and what they do, and what they are trying to do; one of them is by a well known neuro surgeon, who is quite conservative. We need to work with Mother Nature, not exploit or go over her head.
Yup! Imagine, too, what another country who may not trust the motives might do in retaliation.
