ID: Persian Yellow vs Hazeldean

Does anyone know of a sure fire way to differentiate between blooming shrubs of Persian Yellow and Hazeldean?

If you can wait a while, ‘Hazeldean’ bears purple-black hips, when it has hips.

There’s probably a difference in prickles.

As Karl suggests, ‘Hazeldean’ shows the typical spinnossissma influence of lots of prickles. ‘Persian Yellow’ has few prickles and if your tear apart the blossom you will find red streaks at the base of some of the petals.

Hope this helps.

As I had hoped the prickles and the red streaks were the defining points. I came to the same conclusion as you -also the smell is no as bad in Hazeldean. I wanted a more pro opinion By the way it is Hazeldean. The other plant that was recomended to collect much pollen from was a Persian Yellow. The smell really gave it away. also lot of red.
