How neat, EC! It appears to have a “halo”!
Oooooo ur right Kim, it has an eye !
It would be very helpful to know the background of the seed parent seedling.
I once pollinated the very double form of Roxburhgii by ‘Doorenbos Selection’, but I got so excited when a hip formed that I cut it open to see if there were any seeds. There were!
At the time I didn’t know that unripe seeds sometimes may germinate. Assuming the seeds were viable.
Seed parent is an unnamed seedling of open pollinated MOR 125-03-17.
I´m unconcerned about the eye.
My effort was to get a blooming hybrid roxburghii at all.
Dunno why the seedling is double.
Sister seedling #1 is single and looks like roxburghii normalis and without an eye.
No more traits of r. roxburghii visible yet.
