Hips molding!

Hi, folks,

So far this year we’ve had exactly two dry, sunny weeks since May. When the OGRs finally bloomed, they did so in profusion and all at once, so I got plenty of crosses made. Now we’re back into this pattern of unnatural, wet, dark days, and I went around the garden this morning to check the development of the hips. Most are doing okay, but a good many have developed white mold on one side (the mosses particularly), or large black areas, like blackspot–although there’s no blackspot anywhere else on the plant. Anyone know why this is happening?

On another front, yearlings this year have been disappointing. Lots of spots, but lots of pink. I was hoping for something apart from pink, but oh well. Maybe next year.
