Grand Siecle

I know nothing about this pink rose, but it is purported to have an average diameter of 8 inches, and excellent disease resistance. I would assume its rebloom might be rated as “meh” in view of the effort that probably goes into each blossom.

I find no mention of it on this forum, and wonder if anyone has ever played with it, if it conveys large blooms to offspring, if other colors can easily be hung on its progeny, and if it has merit beyond the “that’s some baby” aspect of its huge blooms.

I grew it in Newhall back in the “good old days”. WHEN it flowered, they were largish, but The Doctor could almost rival it for sheer size (though not in number of petals). Other than the occasional flower (not “regular”, but “occasional”) which was usually large, there was nothing which made it stand out in my memory. I don’t recall ever having used it in breeding.

Okay! Thanks! I’ll pass! LOL.
