Thank you Kim. Basically I agree with your opinion.
First bloom of Outta the Blue X Joyberry. Hard to tell from one flower, but it has characteristics of the pollen parent. It also has a very strong old rose scent like the pollen parent, not the spicy clove-like scent of the seed parent. Not the most jaw-dropping bloom, but the main goal of this cross was health, vigor, few thorns, and strong scent. So far so good. Thanks Kim for the pollen.

You’re welcome, Jay. Congratulations! Yup, Lynnie “stamps” herself all over everything you cross her with. I’m going to hit her with Persian Sunset today. That will have prickles and probably a flower very similar to what you’ve pictured above!
Finally started getting germination outdoors here in Maryland a couple weeks ago. Didn’t do a lot of crosses last year but have a few fun species crosses coming up, mostly involving Rosa palustris.
Lots of seedlings from Rosa palustris X xanthina (had to freeze the pollen for a couple of months for this cross).
Also have some from:
Rosa palustris X ‘Old Blush’
Rosa palustris X ‘Winner’s Circle’
‘Rose de Rescht’ X Rosa fedtschenkoana
Especially hoping that the palustris X xanthina are actually hybrids because I’m really curious how those two species will combine.
Tom
I am anxious to hear how the palustris x xanthine turns out. Kim was kind enough to share some hugonis pollen with me this spring. It is currently in the freezer. One of my goals was to use it on palustris later in the summer. I don’t have a goal in mind with that, it just seemed an interesting cross.
Tom
Very interesting crossys, Tom. I’m interested of Rose de Rescht’ X Rosa fedtschenkoana.
Grimaldi has produced some intriguing seedlings. This is the latest.

Stephen, how would that Grimaldi seedling go crossed with one of Jim S Hulthemia’s ?
Jim’s hulthemia hybrids have proven to be too susceptible to BS here in Middle Georgia. Without constant spraying they end up completely leafless. 'Bull’s Eye on the other hand has proven much easier to grow. I might try Ralph Moore’s ‘Halo Fire.’
