First ever seedling and first cutting propagation bloom

I’m still in my first year of hybridizing. While working to create my own first crosses I’m practicing propagation by cuttings and growing from seed. The seeds I started late in the season but figured why not? My first seedling ever has popped. This is. R. blanda from Prairie Rose Nursery.

The first cuttings I took were just from a deli bouquet got for my wife. Two of the eight rooted and the first flowered a little bit ago. Neither major accomplishments on their own but both are good practice for when it’ll matter.

I had to go out of town for work for several days. I’m happy to report the seedling both survived and grew. I do realize this is no big deal and I’m having 1st time grower-itise but it is fun.

When it’s your first success after as many failures as many of us have had, it kind of IS a big deal! Congratulations!
