I did my first cross of the season yesterday. ‘Rabble Rouser’ x ‘Cuthbert Grant’ Have collected pollen from Ruglauca, Cuthbert Grant, Illusion, Thomas Affleck and Strawberry Cream. The season begins!

Glad to hear the crosses have started for you. Did you get any of that April Snow in your area? Yesterday I made cross number 126, that is a record number for me and most likely the last cross for this year. The cross was Ginger Glow X Dragon’s Blood. Last year the last cross that set a hip was made on April 22. I will continue to gather and catalog pollen for the freezer so in one sense I guess next year’s crosses are beginning.
The daylilies are beginning to bloom so I am still making crosses, just a different kind.
We need the end of winter in Alberta before we can pollinate.

No, we got about 3-4" of rain from that storm. We needed it. I love Dragaon’s Blood. Hope something nice comes from that cross.
