Those are very pretty, Joseph and Judith!
The pollination that produced this seedling was made May 25, 2009. It flowered for the first time this year (2015) on May 31. The pollen parent is an F1 moyesii, the seed parent is Persian Peach.
Very nice cross! Good to see that after all that wait you have the blotch (assuming that was one of the features you were trying to capture). Hopefully you’ll have success using this one as a parent.
Well done John nice blotch, can I have one in yellow please(only joking)
Congrats Don! That’s a long time to wait but looks like it was worth it. Hope you can take that one forward!
Here you go David. A new seedling blooming today. My “PL4” x First Impression. (PL4 is listed on HMF.) Tiny little hulthemia blotch but a nice clear yellow. Healthy little plant already. (The spotting on the leaves is fish emulsion/worm tea.)
Thanks Joseph, it is a strong yellow, hope it goes well for you.
Hi Don,
that’s a very interesting cross! How did it evolve? Have you other crosses with moyessi as pollen parents?
HI Dane, thanks.
I have made many crosses with moyesii as pollen parent but only have a handful of seedlings. I have one with Joycie that has barely survived winter in the ground but does hang on and is fertile but none of the seedlings survived. I have another with Incantation that is a prolific bloomer but no f2’s that survive from it either. As mother moyesii has never given me seedlings that survived.
There are a couple more that I’ll have to look up when I get back home. I’m away during breeding season this year caring for some of my own F2’s.
