‘Hansa’ has readily set hips for me, even using a variety of modern pollens. I’m waiting to see if these will germinate this season. I also used its pollen on Rosa palustris and got a very healthy hybrid from the two.

Fascinating seedling, Jonathan. I wonder what range of conditions it would tolerate.
Has it flowered yet? I’m curious about how much it resembles which parent. The plant itself looks a well balanced mix of the two parents. I really like the prickles combined with the slender branches and elegant leaves. Scent? Repeat maybe? Does it set hips? Maybe not mature yet.
It has not flowered yet. The leaves are very lanceolate like R. palustris with the typical rugose veins of rugosa hybrids. Fragrance is very likely, repeat is unlikely.
June 2023 the first seedling has flowered!
Picture is of the rose bush next to it (which is Therese Bugnet OP)
I have a video of the Hansa bloom (taken for youtube channel), but forgot to take a picture.
Blooms are nearly identical! The Hansa bloom has petals that are a bit more rounded, so fill out the bloom a bit nicer.
Color starts purple and fades to maybe mauve (darker than picture shows).
Leaves show seed parent well, as notice leaves in this one much smoother, like Therese.
While Hansa seedlings look almost identical to Hansa.
I’m thinking these are the exact same cross, but reversed.
Odd though, that out of all the seedlings germinated, selected, narrowed down in a move, selected and narrowed down in another move, that the two planted side by side in the bed would be the same color. (Only a few other Therese seedlings have bloomed, mid to light pink).
