Establishing apricot coloring in a breeding program?

Thanks Lydia and Max.

I have to point out that the flowers so far have been very small - smaller than either parent - and they tend to stay cupped most of the time. There haven’t been a whole lot of them either. As might be expected - no signs of repeat. So at this point, I’m not too impressed overall. But I think that this cross has the potential to produce much better and somewhere I have dry seeds (of the repeat cross) waiting to get stratified and planted. On the positive side though, it is very healthy and it does have at least a tint of yellow.

‘Hazeldean’ balls a lot for me too, but there always seem to be enough good flowers to get some pollen. The ‘Topaz Jewel’ I planted, didn’t live for long either, so it must really not like our area.

Good luck with your Hazeldean pollen.

The second bloom from a Mardi Gras seedling has nice color but alas it’s form is lacking.

That’s a great color Jon!

I like the form, it’s very charming…but then again I’m not too picky.

Hey Jon,

It might not have a classic rose form, but I still like it. And don’t forget that it could change a lot as it matures.
