Easy Does It and Mother of Pearl

I’m thinking of picking up Easy Does It and Mother of Pearl for some work on ornamentals. EDI because I don’t have Baby Love or any of it’s descendants so I want a source of those vertical resistance genes, plus it’s other relatives look good also…Mother of Pearl because it appears to be an improved Buck rose. Any experience with these?

I had Easy Does It. The blooms were beautiful but the plant was spot prone and did not winter for me.

When it breaks down, does it collapse like Baby Love or just average spotting? I’d hate to go back to singles, but Homerun might be the better choice for me to work with for those genes.

I don’t remember it getting totally leafless but it did spot pretty badly. And it grew backwards. It was gorgeous it’s first year but didn’t come out of winter very well at all so didn’t thrive the second year and died that winter. I got it to replace Disneyland Rose (similar colors) which I’d seen so many gorgeous pictures of that I had to have it. Disneyland had done the exact same thing though, grew backwards! I was very disappointed in both of those roses.

I love the looks and health here of Mother of Pearl. Tried to germinate seed from it two yrs ago and did not have one germination. Kept the seed over and tried again yr two, with same results. Healthy plant, healthy seed, but would like to try it again with the calcium nitrate treatment.

Edi healthy here in central ohio for two years.

Seed set and pollen take were ok in 2011, not great.

No germinations yet.
