Does size matter?

41 degrees south - zone 9/10

It is mid autumn here and some pollinating opportunities are still occurring. A hip (middle of image) dated Jan.2 is developing color and is part of a crop of huge, child bearing hips. (I am happy to report that of my total of 4 germinations from last year, 2 are from this rose Smooth Splendour - so fertility is confirmed! :slightly_smiling_face: ).

Below/right is Crown Princess Margareta with more average-ish(?) hips. My Crepuscule has small hips. My question is: At this late stage in the season, when doing further pollinations, is there a better chance of smaller hips still ripening, with little to no chance of the biggies being any value?
