Distribution of Chinese Rosa spp.

I just came across the Atlas of Woody Plants in China (2011). Rosa species are listed on pages 551-568. There are no pictures or descriptions of the roses, just maps with the distribution of each.

There are a number of species that I haven’t heard of, some with very limited distribution. No telling what sort of genetic goodies might be hidden in them.

Karl

Wouldn’t you like to get a hold of a few of them.

Fella’s that why I have used a number of these chinese species in my breeding programmes.

Some species and spp. are on the edge of extinction?few of them maybe only live on one little hill.

Which species (or subspecies–ssp) is shown in the pictures? Is this one of the rare ones?

Whatever it is, it is well armed if it wants to let the air out of anyone’s balloon.

Living here in West Virginia, where mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is so common, I was surprised to see either that or a relative growing beneath the rose plant. Checking on its distribution, I found that it is much used in folk medicine in many countries. Is there a future in hybridizing mugworts?

Yes, Peter, very rare these two in china.

Picture 1 and picture 2 are Rosa baiyushanensis Q. L. Wang. , or it’s variety.

Picture 3 is a spp. ,it can reach 2 meters high, I found it in 2011 and I named it Rosa laotieshanensis. I took one home and it should bloom this summer. I want do some crosses like Rosa laotieshanensis×Rosa rugosa?Species, took from beach?,Rosa laotieshanensis×Purple Branch?Hybrid Rugosa?,Rosa laotieshanensis×Adam.

I don’t learn about mugwort, but obviously, the future belongs to the Biological Technology.

Weird. It is like R. chinensis and R. primula had a love child, lol.

The first pic has leaves like R. rubiginosa. I wonder if theyre scented.

I hope they are scented, and have the recessive gene for reblooming.
