Disease question

I haven’t seen this foliage problem before. Anyone know what it is?

My first thought was “that runs like a bacterial infection, not fungal”, for what that’s worth. Is that the extent of the damage?

There are more leaves farther down more seriously infected. This is perhaps my favorite seedling prospect at the moment so I’d be so disappointed if this is a systemic infection that will be incurable.

The following suggestion comes from my experience with orchids: prune one of the infected shoots and look for that same color inside the stem (beneath the bark). That would suggest to me that it is bacterial, and then one could begin thinking how to treat it.
HOW is another thing altogether, but would probably involve a systemic of some kind.
Best of luck!

Thanks!

I did slice open a stem that was heavily symptomatic…no dark streaking.

I’m going to assume this is some sort of physiological problem (perhaps wishful thinking…)

RdxS, but has yellow margins and less purple. I attribute to drought and needing to shed.
