I’ve gotten the nicest little seedlings from crossing Show 'n Tell x Halo Glory. Definitely going to repeat this cross! Also some nice open pollinated Show 'n Tell seedlings as well.

And a few more
Nice ones Judith!
Somehow I think that Art Nouveau would have a lot to add to these seedlings progeny. Who knows what the next generation might offer?
Yes! Although I’d be concerned about introducing mildew susceptibility given the parentage. So far these seem to be very mildew resistant.
Bravo Judith, top looking little seedlings.
Warren
Thanks, Warren!
Nice! Are the first two 2 different sister seedlings?
I was also going to suggest Art Nouveau. It is quite surprisingly clean and I would not let mildew fears keep you from an obvious mate like AN, particularly if you can reinforce that striping. (I don’t know if any of AN’s prodigy have heretofore kept the effect, but you seem to have happened upon a recipe for such.) Very nice seedlings.
(If you don’t wanna try AN, you could send me a cutting and I’ll try it! )
Congratulations!
Very nice Judith! I’m glad Show’n’Tell is putting out for you. I deliberately brought it with me in the move and it LOVES Santa Maria! If you need cuttings from Art Nouveau, I"ll be happy to share those, too, or Burling probably has plants propagated as she also has it. The foliage from Art Nouveau is exceptional in the two climates in which I’ve grown it. Prickly monster, but healthy with dense, resistant foliage here. Blue for You is another which should also give some interesting foliage and flower results. I’ve gotten a few really fluorescent colors using it. The foliage it passes is luscious. Blue for You with Lamarque and Indian Love Call are gorgeous.
Pix 1 & 2 are different seedlings.
Kim, I can’t thank you enough for the Show 'n Tell cuttings. I love the seedlings she’s giving me. I am trying Blue for You with her this season and can’t wait to see the results! Also Eyes for You with her should be interesting. Do you have pictures of the crosses you mentioned?
Maybe in the fall I will take you up on your offer of cuttings from AN. Thanks Kim!
With “Halo Glory” in those seedlings, I can’t help but wonder what kind of craziness might come of crossing them with Eyes for You.
[Oh! Sorry, Judith. I was replying to Kim’s post, and I just noticed you already went there! Consider this then an affirmative vote.]
Is Halo Glory a fairly strong mini? I’m really not familiar with it, but think it could potentially be a good pairing for Art Nouveau in and of itself.
Halo Glory does very well in my garden. Blooms a lot, no mildew. I don’t get black spot here so can’t speak to that.
You’re welcome! I think Blue for You is a natural choice to cross with it. I’m actually looking at that and Kordes’ Brilliant to use with Show’n’Tell. SnT’s foliage and plant are so solid, I’m also eyeing it for species pollen. Halo Glory is one of Ralph’s better Halos, Philip. Unfortunately, most of them are highly inbred Orangeade/Angel Farce/Anytime/Gold Badge mixes, so there can easily be issues with them, but Glory has a strong “halo”, grows and flowers well and is one of the healthier examples.
Indian Love Call X Blue for You
Two of the Indian Love Call X Lamarque. The best foliage of the past two seasons has come from using Pretty Lady, Indian Love Call, Lynnie, Blue for You and Art Nouveau. All of them have produced some dramatic, beautiful results.
I agree, Kim. Halo Glory is a good plant. So far I haven’t gotten any splotch from it’s offspring, but it still seems to pass on some nice traits.
Yet another cool seedling from this cross. I am loving the results I’m getting.
In case you are wondering about the code name of this seedling, my ipod ‘corrected’ my text from SNTxHG to Ant Hug, lol. I figured I’d keep the name.
That’s quite neat, Judith. Show’n’Tell really is a remarkable rose. Buds of an actual orange seedling are opening from Lynnie X Show’n’Tell. I’ll post photos once it does.
I’m very excited to see seedlings from Show 'n Tell crosses!
More photos, please, of Ant Hug…
Recently, I posted “Murphy’s Law of Rose Breeding”, where Lynnie X Show’n’Tell produced the washed out light pink flower. THIS is more what I had in mind from the cross.
