Summertime Rambler, M11-11 JJEL

Coronation (HARbella, 1995) X Oranges ‘n’ Lemons, S, ob, 1994 McGredy, s

I registered the name of this cross as Summertime Rambler with the ARS. It’s been growing up to 10 ft tall, with good disease resistance and has mostly retained the bright color contrast of Oranges ‘n’ Lemons and blooms throughout the summer. I have it tied up against my potting shed.

I have several other shrub rose crosses also using the pollen of Oranges ‘n’ Lemons that have had good results. One rose I called Hot Embers started out with a vivid orange, but the color has muted over the years, and it had less than satisfactory disease resistance.

I’m using Oranges ‘n’ Lemons to try to improve disease resistance and a have a well behaved dense shrub that will be garden worthy. It just happened that Summertime Rambler became a climber, with good results.

Great color John! Nice job.

Great color John, and it appears to be a good bloomer, too.

Beautiful! Congratulations!
