Hello,
A log time ago (2014) I was somewhat active here and I was sent a bunch of hardy spin hybrids, a J5 and a thorn-less rose that was a hybrid. I may not be at this house much longer and I am wondering if anyone has some thoughts on re-homing these. I have Beauty of Leafland, a gigantic J5, Prairie Peace, a couple Hazeldeans and Yellow Altai. The are not the most pleasant rose so I suspect they will not be around long after I move. It will still be a few years before I move. They sucker like crazy and I am mowing over suckers all the time.
No, for the thornless, it was sent to me way back and I stuck it in a corner and forgot about it. I cant remember who sent it to me but its a hybrid from that persons friend there may no longer be any of them out there. I was contacted and asked to send cuttings but I can never remember anything and am constantly distracted and keep forgetting. I think it was Peter Z - Zelasney maybe? I could be totally wrong and thats the only name I remember from when I was active here. Anyway, there was a close call last year and it was cut back harshly (I hired someone) and I thought it was a goner. It came back strong though and it is putting on healthy growth right now. I would really like to find out who wanted the cuttings so I can get them and sent out.
I live near Boise Idaho - I doubt I will get back into hybridizing before I move so if anyone in my area wants cuttings or pollen, you are welcome to stop by. I would love to offer to send them but for whatever reason, I seem to be somewhat unreliable on getting it done myself. J5 will be blooming soon and it produces a ton of pollen and flowers. Its about 15 feet tall now.
