Charles de Mills as a parent

I’ve done a few pollinations on Charles de Mills this year and was wondering if anyone else has tried it as a seed parent. It doesn’t normally produce anthers, but I found one this morning so I’ll use the pollen tomorrow.

Jim,

‘Charles de Mills’ does indeed work as a seed parent. I have a few seedlings in my test bed that are from Chuck. Note that at least 1/2 of the seeds will not germinate until the second year though. (In my experience) Many of them are well worth waiting for though!

Thanks for the info! I’ll try a few more pollinations on it while it is still in bloom…

I remember that I did see one hip on it about 2 years ago. When I opened it, it was empty. Hate it when that happens.
