Cercospora or Blackspot?

Cercospora or Blackspot ?, not recognized up in my garden as a common occurrence. First time l have seen it on lykkefund and can’t miss it.

Not on any other rose is bed. Mid-to low down on canes and favouring one side. Purple tones.

Not going to try treating it, late in the season with cool nights now.

Downy mildew I think

Cercospora normally has grey centres and isn’t so irregularly shaped from my understanding/experience of it

Good to know, thanks !

One of the important identifying features of Downy Mildew is that it does not cross the vein barriers on the leaf. In other words, it remains solely between the vein structures. What you have is not Downy Mildew, but more likely Blackspot in an early stage.

Thanks, good solid backup. Black spot it is.

Black spot would be my guess as well. Luckily, it doesn’t usually get too much more significant than that on ‘Lykkefund’ before the leaves self-destruct and shed from the plant. If you aren’t plagued by excessive cane borers, the plant usually keeps enough leaves coming on new growth to sustain itself just fine.
