Leaves on my Nyveldt’s White x Ann Endt after first frost in November.
Beautiful color! Interesting how it starts in the middle of the leaf and spreads outward. Which parent does the color come from? I haven’t grown either of them. Was there juvenile bloom in this one?

I don’t recall either parent having rich color. Mostly yellow and gold. There was no juvenile bloom
The richest fall color I’ve ever had in my garden so far was on MORsoucrest/Dawn Crest, which Kim shared with me years ago (but which did not survive the transplant/move to my new home, unfortunately). It was, as I recall, a remarkably dark purpley bronze. My Lorapetalum would have been jealous of that foliage.

I have a sport of Fabvier/Martha Gonzalez called “Old Gay Hill” after the community where it was discovered, which gets an attractive purpley bronze as well, and my Pink Pet/Caldwell Pink does too.

I’m adding a picture that shows the color intensifying. I’m very pleased with the autumn color and look forward to seeing the first blossom.

Here is the MORsoucrest (Dawn Crest) I was talking about. Photo is several years old as I no longer have this plant, but I thought it quite striking. (Let’s see if this works…)

This one is a horrible photo, but in the background (errr… left – sorry, dunno why sideways…) is “Old Gay Hill” and in the foreground is Cramoisi Superieur taken the same day. OGH has nice purpley bronze foliage.
It’s of course conceivable that we had something in the weather that made them particularly colorful that year.

I love all of those examples! Yes, Philip, Morsoucrest (Dawn Crest) has gorgeous seasonal coloring and it SMELLS so good! Here, it never ceased flowering. I have shared this seedling’s summer flowering and coloring previously here Experience with any of these? (Multiflora derived, presumably) - Rose Hybridizers Association Forum . I thought I had also shared its fall coloring, but I can’t find it, so here are some examples of what April Mooncrest X Pookah does when it begins cooling.

Kim, are all of those from the same plant? You had shared the golden-brown beech-colored leaves, but the purplier ones are new to me. Those I like. (I’m admittedly less excited by the ones with dull, earthy hues.)
Does either parent have similar hues in its fall foliage?
Yes, they are all the same plant. Nope, neither plant has those bronze tones, though April Mooncrest can have bluish tones and imparts nice coloring to its offspring. I am certain those came from Morcrest. Carolyn Supinger of Sequoia Nursery gave me their last plant of it and I budded it, then passed it on to John Bagnasco to be propagated and eventually sold through the CCRS Rare Rose Auctions. I wonder what one might get by crossing April Mooncrest, with Dawn Crest. It seems a healthy crested flower with beautiful foliage is highly possible.
You might think so , but that isn’t what resulted. It seems when crossing the crested hybrids from Crested Jewel, obtaining a semi climbing, repeat flowering, single to semi double, medium pink, “rangy thing” with no cresting is the default. Most have been scented, and none have been sufficiently impressive to retain.
