The seedlings from the cross U22 V106 ( Hybrid virginana X Hulthemia persica) are looking good. The seedling is showing the foliage colour of the pollinator which is grey green. There is also a photo showing the foliage colour and shape of the seed parent (Sympathie X R.virginiana).
I thought this may have created some interest maybe not, I should get some OP seedlings going LOL
Easy to see the hulthemia in the spoon shaped leaves. I will be very interested to see the blooms. Sympathie has no carotenoids but a good dose of complex anthocyanins so I wonder if the blotch will be visible.
I have put off germinating a batch of Sympathie x Virginiana seeds on account of being terrified of the potential for rampage.
Some which have germinated recently for me.
Fru Dagmar Hastrup (T) Type 1 X Bamako X (Sympathie X R.virginiana)
(Kathleen X Pauls Himalayan Musk Rambler) X a seedling of Francis E Lester
Fru Dagmar Hastrup (T) Type 2 X [(Wendy X Altissimo) X Blue for You]
(Sympathie X R.virginiana) X Master Hugh
Fru Dagmar Hastrup (T) Type 1 X a seedling of Red Ballerina (Hark)
(Sympathie X R.virginiana) X Euphrates
(Sympathie X R.virginiana) X Duplex
The (Sympathie X R.virginiana) used was the red single
Warren, I will be interested to find out if your Therese Bugnet seedlings offer any remontancy in the first generation and if that remontancy shows up as juvenile bloom. I like TB x KO…hard to imagine the result.
Hi Joe;
I will let you know about TB, I think TB X KO will produce something healthy and hardy, the blooms will probably be semi double, and hoping some scent from TB may be passed on
Two interesting germinations
Therese Bugnet X (R.willmottiae X R. forrestiana)
[(Wendy X Altissimo) X R.davidii] X [Valkeeri X ( Charles Austin X (Mimas X R.virginiana))]
Germinated (Sympathie X R.virginiana) X (Fru Dagmar Hastrup X Enfant des Ardenne)
This should be interesting Hybrid kordesii, R.virginiana, Rugosa and Hybrid multiflora combination.
