The first garden nursery rose I grew was ‘ Summer Sunshine’ in 1967. But my first experience with roses goes back to 1959 when my grandfather showed me a rose in my mother’s little circular garden and told me it was mine. I was 5 years old.

A white rose that sported from David Austin’s rose, ‘Eglantyne,’ was registered by me to the International Rose Association as, ‘Sue Durkin.’ You can see it pictured among other roses I’ve grown on my HMF roses page.
