Thanks Paul!
What about the next steps up? I need to transfer some of the plants I have in 1 gallon containers to the next size up and I cannot decide between a 2, 2.5, or 3 gallon sized container. I do not want them in pots that are too big just yet as this is just my next step and nothing permanent. Plus I need to move them around so I want to avoid getting them too heavy. I am leaning toward the 2.5, but if a 2 gallon would work just as well I might go with them instead so I can get more for my money.

I’ve been using cut-off 2 litre milk containers (about 16 oz capacity when trimmed) for several years.
They break down after about 3 years, going very brittle in the Australian sun.

Just picked up 300 black perforated plastic bags that some places use exclusively to pot up the plants for sale. 100 smaller for 1 dollar and 5 by 5 by 7 after crushing the holes flat to the bottom, 100 for 2.50 dollars. These seem to last a long time but for the price are just throw aways. Neil.
I use 2" black plastic tubes, those which have been selected for keepers, get planted out in outdoor beds and those I want to keep an eye on get potted up into 6 " pots. There are alot of plant nurseries who do their own potting up and have large numbers of plastic pots stuck in a corner, most of the time they are hapy to give them to you.
Yes, sometime in the past about 1000 used 6 inch pots where picked up for little money and are now slowly utilized. I have yet to see how well the seedlings, cuttings do in this size pot. I think most back-yarders are concouse of keeping the seedling numbers to the hunders rather than the 1000s. Neil
