Starting Anew - looking for general advice

I am sorry for your losses!
I have found 1173 to be an exceptionally willing parent, considering the crosses I have attempted on it. It pass on a lot of yellow and apricot. Is able to pass on fragrance. Is also able to pass on very double blooms with the right crosses, if you are looking for that sort of thing.
I would love to see a cross of it with xanthina. So far I have used this species pollen some, but to no avail. I couldn’t try this cross right now, as my xanthina died back too much this winter to get pollen from. Perhaps next year. Let me know if you attempt this cross.
An older rose that has accepted pollen from species and other cold hardy plants for me is Lilian Austin. A variety of offspring, depending much upon pollen parents, but can be interesting.

Hi Duane, please check your Private Messages. Thanks, Kim

Jim Sproul’s First Impression makes some nice offspring, also, and it is triploid. It passes on very glossy, resistant foliage and appears to transmit crested sepals well, if they are in the mix.

Duane, if you would like Xanthina pollen, I have some I can share. It’s dried so you will be able to use it as soon as you receive it. If you’re interested, please message me your mailing address and last name and I’ll get it in the mail. It will easily fit in a first class envelope. Kim

Starting this thread again with some updates. I went to my local nursery this afternoon and purchased Apricot Candy and All the Rage. The former is a relatively new hybrid tea, and the latter is a triploid with confirmed descendants (ploidy checked by Dr. Z). All the Rage is certainly developing hips, and Apricot Candy seems to be also. Has anyone else used Apricot Candy in their experiments?
