Has anyone experience with seedlings exhibiting a single cotyledon?
I have one cross in particular that seems to be exhibiting this phenomenon. I have looked to see if there were two cotyledons and perhaps one was excised, but this does not seem to be the case.
I’ve seen a few seedlings sprout like that. It is almost as if the cotyledons are fused in some cases. Sometimes, the growing tip is missing so that the seedling would finally die without further growth.
Thanks Jim. I was looking for terminal buds. Some of the cotyledons seem fused as you suggest. There are a variety of seedlings. Some have a single coytledon and no terminal, others have a terminal. Others have two cotyledons. I’ll watch and wait.
