Seeds opening question.

OKee, I tried to open some seeds with a knife only to look inside and not distroy the embryo. But the annoying thing is that it was very hard to open. How can a tiny embryo with no musslepower open its skin? I tried to put the knife on the slit but it was very hard to do.

Whats going on in the seed that regulate splitting the seed?

Regards,

Timo

The seam that hold the two halves together deteriorates making it easier for the embryo to push through.
