'Ross Rambler' hardiness and ploidy?

Hi all,

Just came across a reference to ‘Ross Rambler’, it looks an interesting rose but I can

Jinks,

Ross Rambler is almost certainly tetraploid. It is also quite hardy. There is some discussion about exactly what it is–some have suggested R. majalis, others R. beggeriana or some hybrid of it. See articles about it or mentioning it at BulbNrose.com is for sale | HugeDomains

Availability is pretty limited. Some people have been trying to get it reintroduced into commerce. I’ve been told the Ross will be available commercially next year, but I’ve not seen it on that nursery’s website yet, so there’s no point in worrying about it yet. I don’t think any nursery in Europe carries it.

would you like some ‘ross rambler’ O.P. seed. I have a small plant and it produced about 10 hips. Just send me your mailing address and I’ll ship some out to you.

R. beggeriana is reported as a diploid species - food for thought?
