Wow! The Post Office must REALLY be hurting! Priority Mail took bud wood to Belgium in THREE DAYS from California last summer. I dropped a Priority Box Saturday, right at 3 PM, their closing time, and it is out for delivery in Iowa NOW (Monday morning)! Seems now is the time to mail things to get them there quickly! Kim
I talked to my carrier about that recently. He says the postal mgmt is REALLY sitting on them to not EVER let a package sit ANYWHERE. He gets in big trouble if someone sees it. And even if it is after their publihsed collection time for priority mail, he says he always ends up being told by someone that he MUST drop off a late package at the main Orange County hub for priority mail, even if it means he has to do it on his own time on the way home.
The theory, according to him, is that they are trying to compete with FedEx and all of the other overnight services. Go figure – the government wants to compete?
