Pollination

What experinces have you had using shadecloth? Has it helped your pollination?

Larry, although I don’t use shadecloth, some of my pollinations are carried out inside a greenhouse, while others are done outside. I have noted that some roses do better outside and others do better in the greenhouse. I would expect that shadecloth would be most helpful in hotter/sunny locations. I have noted though, that when our temps go up, pollen is less fertile and not as abundant - so that might also be a factor to consider. Because of that, I try to get most of my pollinations done early in the spring.
