Thanks for the offer Margit but our seasons are opposite, I wouldn’t have anything flowering at that time.
Properly dried and stored pollen is viable for years. I have made many successful crosses with pollen from the freezer.

I’d worry more about the 10 days or whatever the pollen took to get from Canada to Australia. I don’t use pollen over 48 hours dry unless I’ve frozen it.
It has a long shelf life even at room temperature if it’s been properly dessicated. I slow dry mine under a halogen lamp that’s not too close, put it in a dessicator over silica gel back under the lamp overnight then put them in little ziplock baggies I buy for the purpose.
The proof is in the pudding, it’s a low risk - high reward experiment compared to, say, mutagenesis.
Touché, Don.
It can actually last a lot longer than that, if the conditions are right. I’ve used Minutifolia pollen I’ve held at room temperature in the dining room for months, with successful crosses raised from it. I’ve been collecting it from the occasional flower all “winter” so there will be a supply once the seed parents begin flowering. This is my third year doing it this way.
