More on Subgenus Hesperhodos: R. minutifolia and stellata

Congratulations, Arno! I can’t wait to see it mature! Kim

Thanks Kim.

I am also touched by it, even emotionally - its really a good effort for me.

This year I also try to germinate other combinations with subgenus hesperhodos, we will see, what likes to survive … .

Grx!

Arno

Arno, how did your Veilchenblau/Stellata hybrid do over the summer?

Hi Don!

The seedling is still fine, at the moment it shows its autumn foliage.

It is growing veeery slow (you can compare the pictures above, from last year) and flowers are still far away.

Anyway, it is alive and as I nearly never use any chemistry against fungus diseases, its also healthy enough so far, to be still of great interest.

By the way: Interestingly, - or part of the vivid philosophy of the yearly life cycle of growing and harvesting - I looked into the RHA Forum for the first time since months and nearly at the same time your thoughts on the stellata hybridizings came up. Yes I will go on that way, but I hope next year is better for my personal situation.

It was luck that it did survive. For this year was a very odd one for me, as I worked too much and in the end lost my job - and had nearly no time for my seedlings. The big part of my 2010 seeds aren’t still stratified, but at least i had time to pollinate my Rosa persica plants which flowered well for the first time since 2005 with 14 flowers.

So I will stratify the big part 2010 stuff with the nearly 30 Persica Hybrid seeds I have now from 2011 - I think in Febrauary 2012.

The main thing for me is to keep the wheel turning, no matter how fast.

Also I am creating a blog at the moment where I can lay down pictures and thoughts over the next years. Come, winter, come!

)

Grx!

Arno

Hi Arno,

Looks like a clean plant! It will be fun to see it bloom.

Congratulations on your persica seeds!

Best wishes,

Jim Sproul

Hi Jim!

Thank you, very kind, yes it will be fun to see it bloom.

That seedling is at least mildew resistant as its seems.

And, yes the Persica F1 seeds are also good news … if something will germinate. I think there will.

I hope to manifest good traits already in the F1 Generation.

Congratulations back, for your great efforts with your seedlings are always astonishing!

I am always happy if I look on your blog stite and read and see something new about the persica Fx-Seedlings and the whole challenge with them.

By the way: My two blogs are also online now - one about poetry (mainly german, sorry  ) and one about the workings to get new rose hybrids, including Rosa persica seedlings.

My aim is to have a online memory for thoughts and pictures on working towards new hybrids. And also to have fun with a sense of humour.

Much info will follow, its not perfect at all, but at least the blogs are at good stage so far.

My Homepage by the way is still not ready, but I will also improve its appearency over the next weeks.

Nice week to you!

Grx!

Arno
