Mildew has just hit?

Yes and no…because there may be something of worth in the cross, you may want to try increasing the water (water stress can induce even resistant types to mildew) and improve any air circulation and humidity issues to see if they grow out of it. Banksiae seedlings are martyrs to mildew, however mature plants seldom are affected by it. Perhaps it may grow out of it and further crosses with resistant types may solve the issue? It may be worth the effort but that’s your choice.

I had a lot of Charles De Mills crossed this season, my midlew apocalypse was as bad or worse than this on the majority. I have culled down to 5 Charles crosses. Only one of these is fully mildew resistant through what can only be described as a snow storm.
