Locations in profiles...please

Happy New Year everyone! May it bring all you want and nothing you don’t.

Might I please ask that if you haven’t put your location in your profile, that you take care of that at your earliest possible convenience, please? Often, there are posts for things which could easily and quickly be exchanged, but I hesitate to offer to send material because I don’t know where the other person is. Either sending cuttings might require significantly greater paperwork and expense, or not even be possible due to import restrictions.

So, please at least put your city and state in your profile so others can see if trading cuttings or sending plants can be easily accomplished, and to help determine if your experiences with particular roses and techniques translate well to our own. Thanks!

One would do that by creating a signature, right? I don’t see any other place for it.

Zipcode any help?

Jim Delahanty, 91403. Sherman Oaks, CA

Yup, you create that in your signature. You may include any information you’d like, or as little. Whatever is most comfortable for you to put there. I know many don’t wish to be “found”, so putting actual addresses would probably be safer, but zip and city as in Jim’s signature are fine. I’d know from that I could easily offer plant materials to him without having to jump through customs or other export hoops. Thanks!

Under the Control Center, Personal Profile, Edit Signature, it is as easily done as indicating general geographic area,i.e., S.W. USA, or under Control Center, Options, Location, it is easy to drag the sensor(on Google Maps) to your general area and save, or enter ones’ specific address and have it on Google Map. it is nice to be able to look at remarks and judge whether they are are pertinent to ones’ own experience geographically.

Acknowledged. And Happy 2012 to all.

Paul

Thank you Paul and great to see you! Happiest of happies to your household.

Hi Kim,

Mine is in my name… nyz7a …New York zone 7a. That is what was often done on garden web or is that too hidden, LOL.

Could put it in the signature if that would be easier, especially for those outside the USA.

Thanks Jim, I know where you are! It might be easier for those who aren’t familiar with you if it was in your signature. I confess that I don’t always try to make sense out of screen names. Many are meant to be nonsensical so it sometimes takes me a while of looking at them to pay enough attention for it to click.

I just added more info to mine. Is it too much?

I don’t think so. It explains special conditions you garden in and should help us interpret unusual experiences you may post about. Thanks!

It’s not too much, Seil, but if you are concerned about folks wading through your signature on each and every one of your posts, you can change the font size/color to set it off from the content of your posts.

Happy (belated) new year to all!

Thank you, Phil, that’s the solution!
