I enjoy using Pacific Serenade because it sets hips easily even with hard to use parents. Although generally the seedlings are a pale yellow, but I got a good seedling from the pollen of The Pilgrim, and two from Rugelda. (One looks better so far.)

But I enjoy it most because it’s so easy to exact the seeds… usually just 3 to 4 per hip and there aren’t any “extra material” in it.

And it’s always easy to remove the anthers… other roses such as kordesii and Livin Easy often have its anthers wedged inside of the roses anthers.

Queen Elizabeth, a better parent, is really messy. I extracted seeds recently (Persian Sunset as the pollen parent… my first hulmutha cross) and it was hard to distinguish certain smaller seeds from the undeveloped ones.

Anyone else have a “clean” rose to contribute?

Sheer Elegance.
