Abstract: " Effects of the lights of different spectral compositions have been studied by in vitro pollen germination and tube growth method in Zea mays L. The maximum and minimum percentages of pollen grains showing germination and tube growth were reported in blue and red light respectively. More than 50% of pollen grains are germinated in yellow and green lights which is less than reported in blue light. Germination in normal light condition is excellent and reveals highest percentage. In the present paper the effects of lights of different spectral compositions on pollen germination and tube growth are discussed."
