Basye's Legacy as seed parent problems

It sheds pollen very early, even when it is an unopened flower. Today I made a few crosses with it, but I used flowers that were very tight in the bud stage, but would like to know if this maybe a problem. Is the flower mature enough to reproduce at the unopened bud stage?

As we discussed in an earlier email, Legacy begins to shed its pollen VERY early in the bloom’s development. Many seedlings using it as a seed parent, are selfs. Plus, you’re going to find that it creates quite weak, little seedlings which do finally work out, but they’re a mess to deal with intially. I’ve had much better success using it as a pollen parent.
