Basye Amphidploid seedlings for crested roses?

I have noticed that seedlings of 77-361 have rather long sepals. They remind me something of the rugosas.

I took a real good look at my seedling “Abe Basye” (Abraham Darby X Basye’s Amphidiploid) has rather frilly sepals. No where near to the crested roses, but still…

Perhaps this is in part of the rugosa blood… I remember many years ago that Paul had crested rugosa roses that were particularily beautiful.

So perhaps a route to creating more crested roses would be using Lynnie and other 77-361 seedlings.

Ive noticed that Belle Epoque, a kordesii descendant, has rather long sepals. Dortmund can also show this trait.
